Our Beginning
Millard and Francina both became serious about their relationship with God and was also joined together as husband and wife in 1990. In 1991, they joined St. James House of Prayer, where the Pastor is Bishop Eugene Cooper. Through the years with this ministry, they witnessed the love of God through Bishop Cooper and Mother Cooper. Their dedication and endless service in the ministry is inspiring. As Millard was called into the ministry and Francina studied the Word and sought her place in the ministry, she noticed that once people (especially those that were poor and seemed to be at a disadvantage) had been preached to and accepted Jesus Christ in their life, they needed help in a tangible way, as Jesus describes in Matthew 25:35-40:
“For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Francina has a passion for serving and helping others. In December 2007, an unknown woman came up to Millard and Francina while they were in the drive-thru at Maryland Fried Chicken. The woman asked if they knew of a church in the area where she could get some food to feed her daughter. The spirit of God spoke to Francina saying “you are the church.” At that moment, Millard reached into his pocket and gave Francina money to give to the woman to buy groceries to feed her child. They exchanged contact information to care for her as the Spirit of God dictated. This is just one of many examples of how their vision of serving and helping others began to unfold.
In 2008, Francina had the opportunity to provide grant writing services for Hope Foundation for the Homeless. Krissy Todd, Executive Director of Hope, shared the touching story of her (Hope) beginning and, it was even more inspiring as she saw so many people finding refuge and help through Hope. This experience motivated Francina to move forward with helping others as we face a devastated economy. Thus, Francina and Millard are moving forward in 2009 to serve people through Seeds of Hope Outreach Ministry, Inc.
